Version & limitations

This guide describes application source and runnable previews checked on 2026-11-04. The package version is 0.1.0; use the build commit to distinguish features. Existing installations do not update automatically.

Documentation baseline

  • Source record: 346aa84, including installation notes; current eShell runtime code: 314495f.
  • The eShell screenshot uses that installed build with isolated example data. The BranchTerm screenshot uses the installed app to show its basic project and offline-session interface.
  • Connection, duplication and filesystem illustrations are diagrams rather than screenshots.
  • Screenshots are not evidence of successful server authentication or live SFTP acceptance.

Available features

ProductCapabilities
eShellPassword/key SSH, host trust, remembered passwords, connection progress, groups and Excel export
eShellIndependent duplicate connections, shared channels, two panes, tab groups and separate windows
eShellTwo-pane file management, recursive transfers, text editing, endpoint IP copy/paste, Find, output logging, RTF and input forwarding
BranchTermLocal shells, projects, recent sessions, history snapshots, environment and proxy
BranchTermFile tree, name search and read-only code/image/PDF/Office previews
Shared UIChinese/English, dark/light themes, terminal selection and clipboard capabilities

Counts and resources

eShell has no fixed numerical cap on open, active or authentication-pending SSH tabs. Practical scale depends on memory, networking and server limits. Per-connection queues, scrollback and configuration sizes remain bounded. BranchTerm retains a limit of 10 active local instances.

Splits contain two equal panes. File previews cache the eight most recent contents without a fixed tab count. No claim of unlimited resources or a guaranteed connection count is made.

Not supported yet

Keyboard-interactive/MFA, ssh-agent, host certificates, generic SSH proxies and multiple jump hosts, automatic reconnect, Excel import and remote process restoration across app restarts. SFTP does not include recursive directory sync, resume or remote deletion. Nested pane layouts are unavailable.

Acceptance status

Basic E1 connections received user-reported acceptance. Later features are implemented with targeted automated checks. E4 desktop, DPI/IME, sustained-resource, clean-machine and final release-review work is not fully accepted.

Application source and developer acceptance records are in the source repository. This separately maintained site focuses on usage. Check the build when a screenshot or instruction differs from your installation.
