eShell workspace tour

eShell brings saved SSH profiles and active terminal tabs into one window. Startup restores tab descriptions; your first click on a restored tab or its sidebar entry begins the connection.

Actual eShell screenshot with isolated demonstration data. No example server is connected. The center panel depends on the current selection.

Two context menus

Right-click a tab for duplication, tab groups, split panes, rename, color, close, properties and connection actions.

Right-click terminal content for IP pasting, clipboard actions, selection, Find, logging, SFTP, clear and connection actions. Hold Shift when the terminal program has enabled mouse reporting.

Long menus have a scrollbar. Scroll while the pointer is inside the menu, or drag the scrollbar. Current builds put both duplication actions at the top of the tab menu and both IP paste actions at the top of the content menu.

Profiles and live instances

A saved profile describes where and how to connect. A tab represents an instance with its own input, output and state. Closing a tab retains the profile. Copying or deleting a profile does not migrate a running shell.
